1. What is ChatGPT?
ChatGPT is an artificial intelligence platform created by Open AI. It understands human-like language, therefore it interacts with users in a conversational way. ChatGPT can provide writing essays, poems, code, articles, and many more tasks. It can answer simple or more complex questions regarding a certain topic without a limitation. It is used by students, teachers, businessmen, or any public user looking for some kind of information. There is also a possibility that it may replace Google in the future as it is still in its early stages of development.
2. Advantages of ChatGPT
One of the best advantages of ChatGPT is a fast source of information, due to its online access 24/7. Users can search for a variety of information regarding the topic and get the answers/definitions in a couple of seconds. Another advantage is its ability to provide information in multiple languages, not only in English. The great advantage of ChatGPT is its availability for everyone, which means one does not have to have a special membership as it only requires registration to use it (there is also an upgraded version that needs to be paid for). As mentioned above, this online platform is free and therefore is becoming more popular among users worldwide. As for students, one of the biggest advantages is the fact that it provides summaries of literary works, explains and gives an overview of certain topics, writes an essay in a more advanced style, and teaches new words and terminologies.
3. Disadvantages of ChatGPT
However, there are also disadvantages when it
comes to this great app called ChatGPT. The first one would be that the
majority of students fully rely on using this app. This leads to the fact that
students no longer develop their critical thinking skills and their own ideas.
The second disadvantage is that students use it as the only source of
information and are not willing to put an effort into finding other sources of
information on the internet or in books. One of the biggest disadvantages of
this online ChatGPT may be spreading misinformation and inaccurate data,
therefore it is important to pay attention to this factor.

5. Creating prompts in ChatGPT
This chapter
contains a sample activity how to create prompts in ChatGPT. Creating a prompt is crucial because it serves as the input or initial
query for the AI model to generate a response. The quality and
specificity of the prompt directly influence the relevance and accuracy
of the AI-generated output. The prompt must be clear, relevant. The better prompt, the more accurate answer.
This sample activity may be very useful for teachers to create worksheets for classes and exams. It can save so much time because it provides immediate response- answers.
6. Sample ChatGPT activities
Trivia game
Playing a trivia game with ChatGPT is so easy. A student will ask for a question on a specific topic given by a teacher. For example, the student will type, 'Give me a trivia question about British literature.' ChatGPT will respond with a trivia question on the specified topic.
The student will answer the question, and ChatGPT will confirm whether they are correct or not. If the student wants more questions, they can ask for more or change the topic.
Through trivia questions, students learn in a fun and engaging way, building a broad base of general knowledge. Trivia questions can spark curiosity, motivating students to explore topics further. If a particular question interests them, they might be inspired to research and learn more about that subject. It might be new cool way of finding new information.
20 questions
20 Questions is a classic game that everybody knows, but this version is a bit unusual because it is played with AI. The student will think of an object and is then asked by ChatGPT 20 yes-or-no questions, while ChatGPT tries to guess what it is.
Through this game, students can learn new vocabulary by discussing answers, especially when specific terminology is involved.
The game requires students to analyse the gained information and think about the questions provided. They also practice effective communication and active listening as they absorb the information provided by others. This game promotes the development of various skills.
Storytelling
This activity called 'storytelling' is focused on creating a sort of story where students contribute a phrase or sentence to build a collective narrative. A student may start, for example, with a well-known phrase 'Once upon a time…' and the ChatGPT continues by adding another plot twist to the story. The next turn is, again, the student and his contribution and the creation of the story goes on.
Through this game, students are mainly learning how to use their creativity, and imagination when it comes to adding sentences/phrases to a story. They also gain new vocabulary and various terminologies from the sentences/phrases created by ChatGPT. Another development is the fact, that students have to follow/continue to the previous sentence (in order for the story would be understandable) which also encourages students to expand their critical thinking.
7. Advice on using ChatGPT
ChatGPT can be a valuable tool for teaching and
information retrieval, but it has limitations. It may not always provide
accurate or up-to-date information, and it's essential to use it as a
supplement rather than a replacement for authoritative sources when using this
app during an educational process. Instead of seeking direct answers, encourage
students to think critically by asking open-ended questions – which helps to
create a new approach when teaching in general. To teach students how to
critically evaluate information obtained from ChatGPT and emphasize the
importance of corroborating information from reliable sources. Furthermore, to
gather feedback from students regarding their experiences with ChatGPT in the
teaching process which can be valuable for improving the effectiveness of using
AI in education. It is crucial to mention that one has to be prepared for
having a poor Wi-Fi connection or facing an electricity failure, which suggests
having a backup plan in scenarios similar to this one.
